Redband Coffee Is Pretty Damn Close To Perfect
It’s rare in life you find anything perfect, but you’ll come pretty damn close at Redband Coffee.
I’ve been to Redband now probably 40 or 50 times over the years and I’ve yet to have anything but a superb experience, with the food, the service, the vibe, the whole schmeer. It’s exquisite.
Redband serves up a limited menu but what they do, they do to perfection. The egg sandwiches, which you can get with sausage or chorizo, are maybe the best breakfast sandwiches you will ever have. I’ve been all over the country, and the only spot that rivals Redband is Snooze in Boulder (which, if you ever get to Boulder, you would be completely remiss to miss). Redband’s sandwiches are absolutely delicious, a blend of perfectly seasoned fried eggs, creamy melty cheese and flavorful sausage or chorizo on a soft ciabatta roll. This is heaven in a breakfast sandwich.
The scones are likewise incredible. I’ve had probably seven or eight different flavors, and each has been a treat, whether it was the tang of blueberry lime or the comforting spice of cinnamon and butterscotch or the sweet and sour mix of blueberry orange, they’re wonderful. Nice and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, just fantastic.
Coffee? How’s the coffee?

I usually get the New Orleans Style Iced Coffee, which is a smooth blend of sweetness and creaminess with that nice bitter and chocolate undertone of the coffee. It reminds me of Thai coffee. But if you want to go with a great black coffee, as I like to do when I get it hot, Redband gives you a number of choices of different beans and blends, and like I said, I’ve yet to have a bad cup from them there.
In terms of ambiance and customer service, again, it’s hard to beat them.
Most people tend to go through the drive-thru, and as drive-thrus go, Redband is near the top in terms of speed and accuracy. I think in the probably close to 30 or 40 times I’ve been through the drive-thru, I remember ONE time my order was wrong, and they not only replaced the item apologetically, they gave me a free scone for my trouble, and let me keep the wrong sandwich they’d given me. Not a bad exchange.
If you opt to go to the window outside or go inside to get warm in the winter, you’ll be treated to the aromas of freshly baked scones, and you’ll also be treated to the Redband customer service, which fits it well. Employees are laid back, chill and easily accommodating. Reminds me of going to cafes in Colorado and California, to be honest, and that’s a good thing. They have that same mega no worries vibe.
Honestly, there’s nothing I can think of, in all the many times I’ve been to Redband, that I can say bad about the place. (Now watch, next time I go there, I’ll have a crap experience. Lol… Kidding! I doubt it.)
Redband has two locations, 329 E. 4th Street, and 110 W. 13th Street, both in Davenport. If there’s anything I can say that I wish they would change it would be that I wish they had an Illinois location! Come on over to Rock Island, Redband! But, regardless of the location, definitely give them a try.
