Java Journey Goes Atomic!
Well coffee lovers I’m back at our next stop on our Java Journey. It’s a quiet little place called Atomic coffee.
Atomic coffee sprung into existence as of January 29, 2016. It’s located at 4707 Brady Street Davenport and is a small drive-thru with big flavor.
The newest location that opened April 24 is located just inside the entrance of Ora at 6701 Northwest Boulevard Davenport. Brady Street is open 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and the newest one is open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The owner Peter tells me the name Atomic coffee came after sifting through 50 other names. They finally came to the idea of atomic because it was a powerful word and a well-liked name that was original and has versatility in a graphic sort of way. It’s nicely named.
As far as specialties they may not have a lengthy list of items and they may not sell a large amount of food items but they pack a punch with their beverages. Peter says they want to keep to the beverage theme, as they’re not a restaurant. He says they’re “a coffee shop energy drink stop!”
They serve Natural Energy drinks and they add robust flavor with premium ingredients. Peter also tells me they have many Facebook followers that are thrilled to have another location to go to for their energy drinks and teas and lattes.
If a person does want a warm cookie, brownie or muffin they do have some and they will be happy to heat one up for you to go with your coffee.
They have many return customers, he says. In regard to the new location, he believes many of the 60-plus employees and patients of the Ora will stop in frequently for a latte or energy drink to start their day and perhaps a nice coffee would make a patient (or a doctor) feel better on their way in. We don’t want any sleepy doctors, that’s for sure!
He also says down the road they plan to expand and have a shop in Bettendorf, and they prefer the Iowa side due in part to lower taxes.
“Our shop is small, cozy, quiet and clean,” he said. “Our coffees are sealed up at night, and customers like it. It’s definitely a win with our customers”
Peter added, “give us a try — everyone deserves better! We have customers that will wait 20 minutes in line if necessary for our great fresh coffee and energy drinks. They say it’s worth it!” he says with a smile.
So, if you venture over to Brady Street or Northwest Boulevard stop in and have one of those pick me up Atomic coffees. It’s an out-of-this-world experience!
This reporter gives it a three and a half stars.
