Three Rock Island Principals Promoted To Grants And Teaching Departments
The Board of Education approved new appointments of three principals at the Special Meeting on Wednesday, June 1:
- Lance Clark was named as Assistant Director of Grants, Assessment and Accountability. Recently, Mr. Clark has served as Principal of Frances Willard Elementary since 2016. As an administrator, Lance established a data-driven atmosphere. and led the Frances Willard School team from “Lowest Performing” rating to “Commendable” performance rating on the Illinois School Report Card. Frances Willard was also recognized as the first elementary school to pilot and implement Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program. Previously, he served as an elementary principal for 3 years at a neighboring school district.
- Kristin Allen was named as Teaching & Learning Coordinator (Secondary). Recently, Ms. Allen has served as Washington Junior High School Principal for the last 7 years. Previously, she worked as high school English teacher, high school Dean of Students and high school Assistant Principal. As an administrator at Rock Island High School, Ms. Allen helped lead the building through the School Improvement Grant (SIG) and established herself as an affective visionary leader. Her knowledge and experience with guiding teachers and administrators in the understanding and use of curriculum has been a commendable factor in the successful implementation of district-wide curriculums within RIMSD #41.
- Dr. Dorian Maag was named as Teaching & Learning Coordinator (Primary). Recently, Dr. Maag served as Principal at Thomas Jefferson Elementary for the last two years. Previously, she served as a preschool teacher, K-3rd grade teacher and a grant manager at a neighboring school district. As a newly hired administrator in 2019, Dr. Maag worked with stakeholders to create a new school vision and mission for Thomas Jefferson Elementary. She collaborated with staff to implement education programs and provide more opportunities for students. Dr. Maag’s established data analysis processes and proven knowledge and understanding of elementary curriculum at the building and district level. Her peers also voted her as the Illinois Principal Association (IPA), Blackhawk Region “Elementary Principal of the Year” for the 2021-22 school year.
The positions are new in the district. “I would like to congratulate Mr. Clark, Ms. Allen and Dr. Maag for their new appointments at the Administration Center,” said Superintendent Dr. Lawrence. “Our district is in good hands with their leadership and expertise.”
