Ya Maka My Weekend Bringing the Caribbean to the Quad Cities!

Hey Quad Cities, take a trip to the beautiful Caribbean without leaving home this weekend!

Ya Maka My Weekend, the “Original District Festival” is celebrating its 27th year this Saturday Aug 12, in the District of Rock Island! Gates open at 4 p.m.

Come enjoy some Caribbean cuisine, that island vibe and even an open-air marketplace! The “Ya Maka Beach” will be ready for you to play in, dig for buried treasure, or build a sandcastle!

Here is the line-up for some live Caribbean music, to give the real ambience of being on the beach:

Rude Punch – 4:00 p.m.

Irie Trinity – 5:00 p.m.

Tropixplosion – 7:30 p.m.

INDIKA – 10:00 p.m.

 

Admission is $9 until 10 p.m. when it drops to $5. Kids 12 and under are FREE! Tickets can be purchased in advance through the Downtown Rock Island Partnership at (309) 948-2008 or admission can be paid at the gate.

Ya Maka My Weekend was the very first festival held in The District and started in 1992. Since that time the event has been constantly evolving. You’ll still find the same great reggae music and Caribbean food with a different twist each year!
