Village Is In Bloom With John and Isabel Bloom Festival

Village Is In Bloom With John and Isabel Bloom FestivalTwo names that are synonymous with art in the Quad Cities are John and Isabel Bloom. The impact this legendary couple has had on the community will live on forever.

The 5th Annual Village in Bloom Festival of the Arts, which honors the legacy of John and Isabel Bloom, will be held on Saturday May 6 in the Village of East Davenport. This is a FREE event for the entire family!

John and Isabel lived, raised their family and created art in the East Village. Village in Bloom celebrates their contribution and encourages young people to get involved in the arts. The festival will provide art activities from sculpting with clay to making cards and puppets, sculptures created by area children composed of locally available recycled materials, clay sculptures created by area teens and performance groups showcasing their talents as singers, instrumentalists, puppeteers, dancers and actors. A tentative list of these performances can be found at: http://www.villageinbloom.org/festival/events/. Exhibits of John and Isabel’s artwork will also be available for your viewing pleasure. There will also be face painting, caricature artists, magicians, stilt walker and balloon animals!

In addition to all the activities, you can be one of the first to purchase the newest Isabel Bloom sculpture “Guardian”, which was created by local teen Ariel Scott, with proceeds benefitting the festival!

With the festivities scheduled to kick off at 10 a.m. this is not an event you want to miss!
