QC Festival Of Praise Shining On LeClaire Park
On Sunday, September 3 2017, the annual QC Festival of Praise will have a lot of very exciting events taking place in Davenport’s LeClaire Park. For over 20 years, QC Festival of Praise has been the largest premiere outdoor Christian concert event in the Quad Cities area. It’s a special gathering of people united to sing and praise God’s name, to enjoy God’s presence, to tell what the Lord has done, and, this year again, to honor and support our military members, veterans, and military families. Executive Producer Kathryn Bohn says it will be a night that will honor the Quad Cities vibrant military presence.
QC Festival of Praise is partnering with Military Warriors Support Foundation (MWSF) from San Antonio, TX in their 10th Anniversary celebration of serving our Nation’s heroes and their families. QC Festival of Praise partnered with MWSF back in 2009 at A Night to Honor Our Heroes to raise funds to provide for wounded heroes. MWSF Executive Director, Ken Eakes, told QC Festival of Praise, this is “the Point of Origin” for all their successes since their first partnership with them in 2009.
Since 2007, MWSF has awarded over 760 mortgage-free homes to combat wounded veterans and Gold Star spouses. Through the guidance provided by their 3-year Family and Financial Mentorship program, families have paid off nearly $17 million of personal debt. MWSF also provides lease-free apartments, payment-free vehicles and access to outdoor recreation to the combat wounded veterans and surviving Gold Star spouses they serve. Their programs provide safe and secure living conditions for the over 1,300 children who reside in these mortgage-free homes.
Military Warriors Support Foundation, in collaboration with donating bank Wells Fargo, Dr Pepper Snapple Group and Walmart, will honor one of our Nation’s heroes who was wounded in combat. Retired United States Army Specialist Angel Camacho will be presented with the ceremonial key to his mortgage-free home during this event!
As part of Wells Fargo’s commitment to supporting service members and veterans, the company donates homes to MWSF for use in its Homes4WoundedHeroes program, and vehicles for MWSF’s Transportation4Heroes program.
Dr Pepper Snapple Group has teamed up with MWSF to assist in rebuilding the lives of our Nation’s combat wounded veterans. The funds generated from the purchase of participating Dr Pepper Snapple Group products at local Walmart stores help support combat wounded veterans and surviving spouses of our fallen, by sponsoring their 3-year Family and Financial Mentoring program, who are awarded mortgage-free homes, through the generous donation of their financial partners.
