QC Arts Chalking Up New Creative Project

Quad City Arts will present its 2nd annual Chalk Art FEST in downtown DavenportSaturday, August 25, and Sunday, August 26.  Artists will take to the streets transforming the plain cement pavement into magnificent works of art.  Part of downtown Davenport’s Alternating Currents Festivalhttps://www.alternatingcurrentsqc.com/, this event will feature live music, food vendors, film screenings, comedians, as well as the opportunity to shop for some unique vintage and hand-made goods at the OMG BeckyFest, taking place across the street in the RiverCenter park.QC Arts Chalking Up New Creative Project
 
The Chalk Art FEST is a free to the public and will take over several blocks in downtown Davenport, from 2nd & Perry St. going east to 2nd & Iowa Ave. Artists will compete for $1,500 in cash prizes, including a people’s choice award.  The community can also participate in creating some chalk art, by taking part in a collaborative community piece, where for a $5 donation, participants are given a set of pastel chalk to create a smaller square portion of  a larger image. When finished, the larger image will come to life as a complete work of art!  
Registration for the Chalk Art FEST is FREE to all artists. Chalk and lunch vouchers are provided.  Awards will be presented at a formal check ceremony on Sunday, August 26th at 3pm. Deadline for registration is August 10, 2018.  For more information or to register as an artist, visit:https://www.quadcityarts.com/chalk-art-fest.
