Partnership Provides the Community with A Look At The River Through Artists’ Eyes
Local artist Heidi Brandt is launching “Art Meets the River”, a 2017 calendar showcasing Quad City river art from 6 local artists. The project will benefit local non-profit River Action.
An art exhibit featuring the calendar art will be held at the Bereskin Gallery located in Bucktown Center for the Arts, 225 E. 2nd Street Davenport, from October 28th through November 12. An opening reception will be held at Bucktown’s Final Friday event, October 28th from 6 to 9 p.m.
The second year of the project features six local artists and their different art forms to further showcase the talent in the Quad Cities.
“Many local artists use our environment as inspiration so I thought it fitting to expand the calendar to include them.” says project coordinator and artist Heid Brandt. “I would like to inspire the community to create and/or purchase local art and to be good stewards of the environment.” Contributing artists are Pat Bereskin, Brad Bisbey, Gene Brack, Heidi Brandt, Dee Schricker and Robert Zeidler. Please see the attached for artist bios. More of their work can be found in the Boho Chic and Bereskin Galleries located in Bucktown Center for the Arts in downtown Davenport.
The calendars will be available starting October 28 through the holidays at Quad City HyVee grocery stores. They will also be available while supplies last at Boho Chic and Bereskin Galleries at Bucktown Center for the Arts, Midcoast Gallery West and Quad City Arts Rock Island, the Festival of Trees “Be Original” gallery, Crafted Quad Cites and the Quad City Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to River Action.
River Action strives to foster the environmental, economic, and cultural vitality of the Mississippi River and its riverfront in the Quad City region.
