Looking For A Fun And Healthy Way To Get Kids Into The Kitchen?

Looking For A Fun And Healthy Way To Get Kids Into The Kitchen?Looking for a fun and healthy way to get your kids involved in the kitchen? It’s no secret that including your children in meal planning and preparation builds healthier eating habits. It can, however, be difficult to know where to start.

Hy-Vee food stores are hoping to help take some of the guess work out of how to involve the kids, with their ‘Kids in the Kitchen’ programs. These fun and educational kids’ cooking classes are held monthly at your local Hy-Vee stores for children ages 4-9.

This May, Kids in the Kitchen utilizes a one of a kind Blender Bike for their ‘Kids in the Kitchen: Blend It Up!’ class. This is a blender powered by how hard you can pedal the bike!

On Saturday May 20, Rock the Blender Bike will be visiting the John Deere Hy-Vee (750 42nd Avenue Moline) from 1-2 p.m. Tickets are $10 per child (parents are required to stay for the duration of the class) and can be purchased at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/kids-in-the-kitchen-blend-it-up-tickets-33830287300.

Come join the John Deere Road Hy-Vee dietitian, Hannah, for this awesome class! The recipes for this will include a Fresh Blenders Apple smoothie, garden fresh salsa and a ranch veggie dip. All recipes will be made using the blender bike!

Make sure to check your local Hy-Vee for upcoming Kids in the Kitchen programs!

The Blender Bike will also be making an appearance at the Silvis Hy-Vee (2001 5th Street) on Sunday May 21. From 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. the Blender Bike will be making refreshing, on-the-spot, smoothies. You can purchase your very own smoothie and a portion of the proceeds will go towards the local Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) chapter to help find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.

For upcoming Hy-Vee Blender Bike appearances, check out the Quad Cities JDRF event at: https://www.facebook.com/events/619504858245376/.

If you are interested in renting your own bike blender from Rock The Bike, check out their website at: http://rockthebike.com/fender-blender-bike-blenders/.

Let’s get rocking and blending!
