Local 25 Golf Outing Raises $3,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mississippi Valley
On September 14-15, more than 200 golfers and volunteers participated in the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 25 annual golf outing at Indian Bluff Golf Course in Milan.
“After having to turn members away again last year, we decided to make this a two-day event to make room for everyone who wants to participate,” said Brett Swanson, Local 25 business agent. “With this year being as successful as it was, we plan to keep it a two-day event, and will continue to do what we can to make room for everyone.”
The event raised $3,000 in support of one-to-one mentoring at Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mississippi Valley.
“It’s important that kids see their potential, and the staff and training facility at Local 25 is cutting edge,” said Jay Justin, president and CEO of BBBSMV. “Kids can see how their education and interests can evolve into building some of the important facilities and infrastructure in our community — and they can be a part of things that make our life and community better.”
Local 25 has supported the mission of BBBSMV since 2011. In addition to making charitable contributions, Local 25 also educates Littles about career opportunities in the trades through the BBBSMV Career Navigation Program, provides in-kind labor for facility projects, and has sponsored and designed a hole at the organization’s annual Putt-A-Round event.
