Get ‘The Straight Story’ At Cinema At The Figge
Do you like Art Museums? How about films? What about watching a film in an Art Museum? If so, come and see the screening of David Lynch’s 1999 film “The Straight Story” on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016.
This film will follow Danny Wilcox Fraizer’s short film “Driftless” which is accompanied by his still photography. A live score by the band The Pines shall also be performed during this short film. This event will be held at the second-floor auditorium of the Figge Art Museum, which is located at 225 W 2nd Street, Davenport.
Fraizer is known and respected for his work on Harper’s, The New Yorker, National Geographic, The Atlantic, TIME, GQ, Mother Jones, LIFE, The Sunday Times Magazine (London), Newsweek, and Fortune. Since the theme of this event is Home, “Driftless” and “The Straight Story” both fit for this evening. “Driftless” focuses on those who live in rural Iowa and “The Straight Story” follows the journey of Alvin Straight as he travels from Laurens, IA to Mt. Zion, WI on a lawn mower.
Cocktail hour will begin at 5:00 p.m. with a photographic Pop Up Gallery. At 6:00 p.m. “Driftless” will be shown and The Pines will perform followed by a talk with Danny Wilcox Fraizer. There will be an Intermission accompanied by drink, food, and music at 6:40 p.m. “The Straight Story” will be shown at 7:15 p.m.
This is a free event, though a donation is encouraged where the proceeds will be split between the Figge Art Museum, Danny Wilcox Frazier and The Pines. For more information about this event, please visit: https://www.facebook.com/events/1793197660936229/
