From Beauty Queens To Bands, Rock Island County Fair Has It All

From pageant queens to trailer races, from tractor pulls to live music, the Rock Island County Fair has been offering outdoor entertainment for 148 years. This year’s fair, running Tuesday, July 18 through Saturday, July 22, is expected to draw more than 40,000 people for a livestock show, arts and craft shows, rides, and live entertainment to the fairgrounds at 4200 Archer Ave., East Moline.

Admission is free for five-and-under, $1 for kids 6-12 and $2 for 13-and-up, with admission going to $5 after 8:30 p.m.

Here’s a rundown of the some of the events:

Tuesday, July 18

8:00 a.m.                  Open Sheep Show (sheep released after show)

10:00 a.m.                 4-H Dairy Show and 4-H Horse Fun show Open dairy must be in

11:00 a.m.                  Jr. Dairy show, Depts. L1 & L2 judging

6:00 p.m.                  Market Lamb Show

6:30 p.m.                  Miss Rock Island County Fair Queen Pageant in the Grandstand   $ 5.00 admission

Wednesday, July 19

8:00 a.m.                   4-H Beef check-in

8:00 – 10:00 a.m.     Dept. L4 check-in at Davis Hall

9:00 a.m.                   Open Dairy show, Jr. Sheep & Market Lamb show 4-H Horse and pony show

10:00 a.m.                4-H Beef weigh-in

11:00 a.m.                 Dept. L4 judging

12:30 p.m.                 4-H Master Showmanship

1:00 p.m.                  Kiddie Tractor Pull in the Family Entertainment Tent

1:00 – 5:00 p.m.         CARNIVAL WRISTBAND DAY – $20.00 for unlimited rides

3:00 p.m.                  4-H Sheep show

5:00 p.m.                  4-H Rabbit check-in at East Hog barn, 4-H Goat and Swine check-in

7:00 p.m.                  Jr. and Sr. Talent Competition in the Grandstand  Open Dairy cattle must be off grounds

Thursday, July 20

8:00 a.m.                  4-H Swine show

9:00 a.m.                  4-H Bucket Calf/Breeding Beef/Steer show

1:00 p.m.                   4-H Rabbit show

2:00 – 4:00 p.m.         Open and Jr. Beef check/weigh-in

4:00 p.m.                  Celebrity Showmanship

5:00 – 7:00 p.m.         Open and Jr. Swine check/weigh-in

7:00 p.m.                  Stock car races in the Grandstand

Friday, July 21

7:30 a.m.                   Open Swine show

8:00 a.m.                   Dept. L3 check-in at Davis Hall

8:30 a.m.                   4-H Poultry check-in at East Hog barn

9:00 a.m.                   Dept. H1 Jr. Heifer show followed by Jr. Market Beef show

4-H Goat show and State Fair Horses released

11:00 a.m.                   Dept. L3 judging

12:00 p.m.                  4-H Poultry show

4:00 p.m.                   Set-up for 4-H Livestock Auction

6:00 p.m.                   4-H Livestock Auction

7:00 p.m.                   Demolition Derby in the Grandstand

Saturday, July 22

9:00 a.m.                   Dept. A and A1 Beef show (cattle released after show)
