Fly Me To The Moon, At The Putnam
Reaching the moon was one of humanity’s greatest extraterrestrial feats, but when will we finally return to earth’s only permanent natural satellite for good?
Come take a glimpse into the future this Saturday Apr 14 at the Putnam Museum (1717 W 12th Street Davenport) with the award-winning planetarium show “Back to the Moon for Good”.
This amazing presentation will take place 11 a.m., 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $4 for the dome experience itself or a $2.50 add-on to exhibit admission. To purchase tickets ahead of time, please visit http://putnam.org/Calendar/Discovery-Dome-Moon.
“Back to the Moon for Good” chronicles teams around the world as they compete for the largest international prize in history, by landing a robotic spacecraft on the moon. Learn how the $30 million Google Lunar XPRIZE hopes to spur innovation through competition, and meet the teams competing to land a spacecraft on the moon.
The Dome experience is fully immersive, and viewers are presented with visuals by a projector that displays images using an advanced two-mirror system. Everyone can partake in the Discovery Dome experience as the dome has a full-size stand-up door which guests can walk through; no crawling or shoe removal is necessary. The dome is also wheelchair accessible. The Discover Dome is a mobile planetarium and therefore does not have permanent seating. There are some chairs available inside, but most seating is on the floor. Please ask for seating assistance if necessary.
“Back to the Moon for Good” is the last and final Discovery Dome show of the season, so don’t miss this one of a kind experience!
