Final Rock Island Artists Market Fall Flinging In Sunday
The final Rock Island Artists’ Market of the 2019 season, the Fall Fling, is this Sunday, October 13, from 12-4 pm. This family-friendly market takes place in the parking lot of Skeleton Key Art and Antiques at 520 18th Street, Rock Island, and features a variety of art, local produce, handcrafted goods and more.
Customers and sellers are encouraged to dress up in their favorite Halloween costume for the Fall Fling. Roaming judges will be passing out prizes for great costumes and participating artists will be handing out treats for kids. The October market will feature food and drinks by Kavanaugh’s Hilltop Bar and Grill, popcorn by G’s Popcorn of Moline, and music by Roger Carlson. In addition, Skeleton Key Art and Antiques, the host of the market, will be open for customers to shop additional artists and makers.
The Rock Island Artists’ Market was formed through a partnership of the Rock Island Arts Advisory Committee and Skeleton Key. The Rock Island Arts Advisory Committee held public meetings in 2016 to discuss ideas for expanding the arts community in Rock Island. It was decided that an open air artists’ market aimed at connecting artists and patrons topped the list of possible ideas. The Rock Island Artists’ Market joined an existing farmers’ market at Skeleton Key Art and Antiques on Sunday afternoons.
