Early Learning Events Sprout Up At Libraries In September
It’s three times the fun for parents and toddlers, now that Rock Island Library has expanded Play and Grow early learning time from one to three events per month. The play group for ages three and under and their parents or caregivers will be offered once per month at each of the library’s three locations.
Upcoming dates for the 10:30 am Play and Grow events are:
Sept. 6 at 30/31 Branch and Sept. 7 at Southwest Branch. (No September Play and Grow session at Main Library.)
Oct. 4 at 30/31 Branch; Oct. 5 at Southwest, and Oct. 7 at the Main Library.
Play and Grow uses the Every Child Ready to Read Talk, Sing, Read, Write Play model to build language and learning skills in ages three and under. Building language and literacy skills early, before children can even read, positions children for better success in school later.
To make room for the additional Play and Grow sessions, the library’s Toddler Tales story time will start in the third week of September. Also, story times are offered at 10:30 am Friday and Sept. 2. Toddler Tales include stories around a new theme each week, songs, and a craft activity for ages five and under.
