Don’t Be Shy, Be Like Shy And Head To Taste of Q-C Art
Shy Brewer was far from her name at her opening night for her new art show at Taste Buds in The District, Rock Island.
The local artist was the first to exhibit her art at the new regular show A Taste of Q-C Art at the venue, and at her opening reception Jan. 20 she was all smiles, chatting it up with a variety of guests about her colorful paintings and landscapes.
“It’s great, I’m so happy to see my artwork up and excited to see people come out to see it,” Brewer said. “I hope people come out and enjoy the show.”
A Taste of Q-C Art will showcase a new local artist’s work every two weeks. The shows are sponsored by QuadCities.com and My Verona Productions.
“At My Verona we’re always looking for unique and cool ways to showcase local creative artists, and at QuadCities.com we’re always shining the spotlight on the best in local entertainment, so it was a natural partnership for us in both instances,” said Sean Leary, CEO of My Verona and Digital Media Director for QuadCities.com.
“This gives a lot of talented local artists the chance to get exposure for their work, and it makes our space a lot more colorful and fun,” said Taste Buds owner Bret Gardella. “We’re a fun store, it’s a happy place to be – we’ve got an excellent assortment of candies, snack mixes, smoothies, coffee drinks and lots of other delicious things to bring a smile to people’s faces, and now we’ve got this beautiful artwork on display which just adds another reason for people to be happy when they walk through our doors.”
Brewer’s artwork is at the Rock Island venue through Feb. 2, at which point the next artist, Jackie Krebs, will get her turn in the spotlight.
