Detox With Your Pharmacist Program Open On Monday

Detox With Your Pharmacist Program Open On MondayWhen spring cleaning is mentioned, it usually leads to thoughts of removing clutter around the home. However, the new season is also an opportune time to remove the clutter from your body! We have all heard of the many detoxes offered from companies all over and it may be confusing to know which one is the best for you. Luckily, the Quad Cities have their very own Registered Pharmacist willing to help you with that decision.

Jim Perry, the owner and pharmacist at District Drugs and Compounding Ltd, will be hosting the educational program ‘Detox With Your Pharmacist’ on Monday, May 8 at 5:30 p.m. The one of a kind informational session will take place at District Drugs and Compounding, located at 319 18th Street Rock Island. This is a free program but seating is limited, so please call (309) 786-8431 to RSVP. You can reserve a spot right up until the day of the session.

Jim will discuss the many invisible toxins all around us that we expose ourselves to daily. He will explain why removing those toxins are vital to our liver cells and overall personal health. He firmly believes in the Ortho Molecular Core Restore program for this process, and from his own experience says a person “can’t recommend it unless you’ve done it”. If participants are interested in the program after the class, they will be able to order the full kit through District Drugs and Compounding.

While other programs focus mainly on phase one of the detoxification process which converts a toxic chemical into a less harmful chemical, the Core Restore Program both removes the toxins and revitalizes the body’s natural detoxification function. This process helps to prevent future toxin buildup which assists in maintaining a healthier lifestyle.

District Drugs and Compounding Center is a family-owned compounding only pharmacy. Compounding is the creation of a pharmaceutical preparation, or drug, by a licensed pharmacist to meet the unique needs of an individual patient. A patient may not be able to tolerate the commercially available drug, the exact preparation needed may not be commercially available, or a patient may require a drug that is currently in shortage or discontinued. And that’s where Jim Perry comes in.

When Jim was in high school he worked at Cosgrave Pharmacy in Silvis. While working with the owner and pharmacist Jack Cosgrave and sharing a love of drumming and chemistry, he started to realize how interested he really was in pharmaceuticals. He became a Registered Pharmacist in 1991.

After working as a pharmacist for a while, Jim had a realization that “the art of pharmacy is gone”. In 1998 Jim and his wife, Stephanie, opened District Drugs and Compounding Center in Rock Island. In the beginning days, Jim worked with both traditional and compounding drugs. However, his heart was more in the compounding aspect of the pharmaceutical world. There was a whole set of people who couldn’t take certain medicines for one reason or another. And he knew how to fix that. Soon he found that his hobby had turned into the practice.

Jim makes sure to only carry products that he knows about and can trust in. There are only certain companies that he brings in. The compounds that he makes are prescription only, but the list of physicians he works with grows on a daily basis. He does provide a list of recommended practitioners on the pharmacy’s website at: http://www.districtdrugs.com/recommended_practitioners.htm. Patients can also have their physicians contact him directly or they can set up a consultation with him personally to get his ideas and suggestions to take back to their doctors. The cost savings and value for compounded drugs is very beneficial, along with the customization for each patient.

One of Jim’s favorite descriptions of his job role is from “Babies to Baboons”, he can help. That’s right, he also specializes in medication for a wide variety of animals! He receives requests from zoos and pet owners alike. Seems like there’s not much he can’t do!

One of the newer additions to District Drugs will most definitely benefit both guests at nearby hotels and local residents. You can now find different over the counter cold medicines, pain relievers, toothbrushes, toothpaste and miscellaneous small gifts.

Monday’s detox program is one of multiple classes that occur at District Drugs. In March, they held a ‘Drugs That Don’t Work And Natural Supplements’ seminar. Some of the seminars planned for the future are; the hormone program ‘Hormone Hell to Hormone Well’, a thyroid program, and an auto-immune program. Make sure to check out their Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/DistrictRx/ for the latest seminars and educational information pertaining to clean health.

Four times a year, Jim Perry and District Drugs and Compounding Center also hold Tudor House Concerts. They have even had Grammy Award Winning artists perform in the past.  He finds this a nice way for the artists to reach their fans while also getting his pharmacy and the compounding concept out there.

Whether you are interested in the never-ending world of compounded drugs or the reason behind and safest way to detox, District Drugs and Compound Center Ltd should be your go-to. You can call the office at (309) 786-8431 or e-mail info@districtdrugs.com to register for classes or to set up a consultation with the multifaceted and knowledgeable Jim Perry. You won’t regret it.
