Deadline For Artists Market Coming Up!

The Rock Island Artists’ Market has announced the sign-up deadline for artists, crafters and growers interested in participating in the first market of the 2018 season. Completed applications must be turned in at Skeleton Key Art and Antiques, 520 18th Street, Rock Island by 6 pm, Thursday, May 31, 2018.

The Rock Island Artists’ Market is beginning its third season Sunday, June 10, 2018. The market will take place on the second Sunday of each month, June through October, from 12-4 pm. Applications received after May 31 will be considered for the remainder of the market season.

The Rock Island Artists’ Market was formed through a partnership of the Rock Island Arts Advisory Deadline For Artists Market Coming Up!Committee and Skeleton Key Art and Antiques. The Rock Island Arts Advisory Committee held public meetings in 2016 to discuss ideas for expanding the arts community in Rock Island. It was decided that an open air artists’ market aimed at connecting artists and patrons topped the list of possible ideas. The Rock Island Artists’ Market joined an existing farmers’ market being held in the parking lot at Skeleton Key Art and Antiques on Sundays.

Shoppers can expect to find a variety of art, local produce, flowers, handcrafted goods and more, all sold by the artists, creators and growers. Participating vendors pay a yearly registration fee of $50.00 to show their work during the five events comprising the drop-in style market. Registration is open to local artists, craftsmen, and growers. More information can be found on the Rock Island Artists’ Market Facebook page at www.facebook.com/RIArtistsMarket,  or in person at Skeleton Key Art and Antiques during regular business hours.
