Celebrate Memorial Day In Colona!Memorial Day weekend is upon us, and no other town in the Quad Cities Area celebrates quite like this one. That’s right, it is time for the Colona Memorial Day Festival!

The Colona Memorial Day celebration started as a small-town parade forty-seven years ago and has now exploded into a four-day festival of fun! People come from all over to enjoy the carnival rides and games, food vendors, beer garden concerts, horseshoe tournament and parade.

Here is this year’s schedule of events:

Thursday, May 25

Carnival Hours: 5-9pm ($20 armbands for unlimited rides 5-9pm)

 

Friday, May 26

Carnival Hours: 5 p.m.-Midnight ($20 armbands for unlimited rides 6-10 p.m.)

8 p.m.    Beer Garden Concert: Moonshine Run (Free admission, drink tickets $3 each or 7 for $20)

 

Saturday, May 27

Carnival Hours: 12 p.m.-Midnight ($20 armbands for unlimited rides 1-5 p.m. and 6-10 p.m.)

9 a.m.    Colona Memorial Day Festival Horseshoe Tournament

8 p.m.    Beer Garden Concert: Dirt Road Rockers (Free admission, drink tickets $3 each or 7 for $20))

 

Sunday, May 28

Carnival Hours: 12 p.m.-8 p.m. ($20 armbands for unlimited rides 12-5 p.m.)

2 p.m.    46th Annual Colona Memorial Day Parade (Parade route begins at 2nd Avenue, continues onto Route 84 and turns off at Colona City Hall)

 

Rhonda McClintock is the parade’s Grand Marshal this year. She also won Citizen of Year back in 2009.
