Take A Walk And Learn About The QCA

Take A Walk And Learn About The QCAWhen naming the most distinctive qualities of the Quad Cities Area, the Mississippi River is usually at the top of the list. If you are from the area, you probably know the QCA is located at the only bend in the Mighty Mississippi where it flows from east to west. But there is so much more to learn about the historical aspect of the river.

River Action is an organization that strives to foster the environmental, economic, and cultural vitality of the Mississippi River and its riverfront in the QCA. One way they are doing this is by offering Riverine Walks this summer. Riverine Walks explore the Quad Cities through a series of guided walks.

This Saturday June 24, the Riverine Walk theme will be ‘First Residents- Native Americans and the River’, presented by Christina Kastell from the Putnam Museum.

The meeting location for this walk is at the Dillon Memorial Fountain at the intersection of River Drive and Main Street, Davenport. The walk will take place from 9-10:30 a.m. The cost is $6 per person, and is free for River Action members.

If you are curious about the terrain or difficulty of the walk please call River Action for more information (563) 322-2969.

To register on-line, or to check out the upcoming Riverine Walks please visit http://riveraction.org/education.

You don’t want to miss this opportunity to learn more about the history of The Big Muddy.
