Is Burger King’s Ghost Pepper Burger Worth The Heat? Doc Kaalberg Reviews The New Dish

The Ghost Pepper Burger.
I was really really hoping this one was going to do it. Let’s dig in…
Over the years Burger King has pushed the envelope, trying to ignite a new customer base with different takes on their Whoppers. The SteakHouse (Personal Favorite), The Black Bun( Only in Japan), The Angry Whopper, The Western BBQ, and of course the Impossible.
This year for the Halloween season we were haunted with the Ghost Whopper. The limited-time burger features a classic flame-grilled beef patty topped with spicy queso, bacon, jalapeños, and ghost pepper cheese on a seasonally appropriate orange-and-black sesame seed bun.
This has all the ingredients for what I personally want and need in a spicy burger… However this tasted more Casper then 13 Ghost (1960s not the 2002 remake). The spice tries it really does, but I found it gone before I could feel the heat. The bacon is lost in the sauce, the “spicy queso” is really more of a spicy gas station nacho cheese, and my flame grilled patty left me asking what happened to the juicy 1/3 pound beef patties of old? The real stake through the heart here is the incredibly dense and dried out orange colored bun.

If you’re Spell-bound to get this burger, here are some tips to possible enjoy it more. Ask for Mayo and onions. The moisture from these two items can really carry a decent amount of the heat and add to your burger experience. I’ve seen a few tips of people switching the bun out for a Hawaiian style bun, sold at most grocery stores now. Hyvee does carry them. And last but not least don’t take my word for it. Try it out and let me know how you like it.
