RI Library Putting Lights Up On Teen YouTube Video Night

Rock Island Library will be hosting a Teen YouTube Challenge Video Night  Tuesday, Feb 20, 5:30 to 7:00 pm, at the Rock Island Downtown Library, 401 19th St.

Teens who enter the Quad City wide Teen YouTube Video Challenge could see their work on the big screen at the Putnam. If you need help with your entry, try the Rock Island Public Library’s Teen YouTube Video Challenge night on Tuesday, February 20.

The event, offered from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at the Downtown Library, helps support the creative process by supplying props, cameras, laptop computers, help with editing and uploading, and entry details to teens who want to enter a three-to-five minute video. The event is free and does not require registration.

The Teen YouTube Challenge is held annually during Teen Tech Week, which is March 4-8. This year’s theme is “Libraries Are for Creating,” and the grand prize is $100. The contest is open to ages 11 to 19.

Entries will be shown at the free Premiere Party on March 8 on the giant screen at the Putnam Museum. Participants and their families can attend the free Premiere, which features pizza, the videos, announcement of winners. Just like a Hollywood premiere, entrants should be prepared to wear their red carpet clothing and answer questions from the press.
