Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17), a member of the powerful House Appropriations Committee, announced that the Quad Cities International Airport will receive more than $1.2 million in funding through the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program. The funding will be used to replace several existing large surface brooms.

“In Northwest and Central Illinois, snow removal is essential to the safety and efficiency of our airports,” said Congresswoman Bustos. “Today, I’m thrilled to announce that more than $1.2 million in federal funding will be coming to the Quad Cities International Airport for new snow removal equipment to help keep passengers safe and flights on time.”

Cheri Bustos of Moline is in her 4th term as Congresswoman for Illinois’ 17th District.

The Airport Improvement Program (AIP) provides grants for the planning and development of public-use airports that are included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems. The grants serve to improve safety, capacity, and noise compatibility. The AIP is funded by the Airport and Airway Trust fund, which is supported by user fees, fuel taxes and other similar revenue sources.
