As the current health situation in our country continues to force the cancellation of so many regularly scheduled events in the Quad Cities, we are once again focusing this week’s edition of Fun10QC on fun entertainment you can enjoy in the safety of your own home or while practicing safe ‘social distancing,’ as Iowa and Illinois begin to hold in-person events.

Uncork the Season with the Quad City Symphony Orchestra
Join the Quad City Symphony Orchestra as they kick off the 2020-21 Season.
Uncord the Season will take place on Wednesday Aug 5 from 5 – 8 p.m. at Wide River Winery in the Village of East Davenport (1128 Mound Street Davenport).
Tickets are just $20 and include a light dinner and music from the QCSO Brass Quintet. They can be purchased online at https://qcso.org/event/uncork-the-season-2020/. Wine will be sold by the bottle and 50% of your purchase will be donated back to the QCSO!
To ensure social distancing, the event is limited to 60 guests. Guests can attend in groups of up to 6 people with high top and seated tables available. To ensure adequate tables to accommodate the groups, guests are encouraged to either purchase tickets as a group or designate a “host” of the group and include that host name in the comments when purchasing tickets.

HEATH & SAFETY MEASURES
Social Distancing: Attendees will be spread throughout the two patio areas and into the parking lot to ensure social distancing. The interior tasting room will be limited to staff and only open for access to the restroom. Guests should avoid mingling with other groups.
Facial Masks: Facial masks will be required for entry, while waiting for entry, exit, and to move about the common areas. Masks are strongly recommended but not required when attendees are enjoying their food and wine. Disposable masks will be available for those who arrive without one.
Reduced Contact: Tickets will not be sold on-site and must be purchased in advance. Tickets will not be touched by the ticket scanners. Food will be plated and served to guests at their table.
Attendees Should Be Asymptomatic: Attendees should be asymptomatic for at least 14 days prior to attending the event in-person. Anyone feeling unwell or experiencing symptoms such as but not limited to fever, cough, or shortness of breath should stay home. Anyone who has been in contact with someone who has been experiencing these symptoms in the last two weeks should also stay home.
Beyond the Galleries Tour
Go beyond the galleries with the Figge Art Museum!
Beyond the Galleries Tour will take place this Friday Aug 7 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at the Figge Art Museum (225 W 2nd Street Davenport).
Andrew Wallace, Director of Collections and Exhibitions, will lead a behind the scenes tour of the Curatorial storage area and other private areas of the Figge Art Museum not seen by the public. Appetizers and refreshments will be provided by Zeke’s Island Café.

Signature Series: Fantasie
Quad City Symphony Orchestra presents Signature Series: Fantasie this Friday Aug 7 from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m., live from Allaert Auditorium at the Galvin Fine Arts Center (St. Ambrose University 518 Locust Street Davenport), both in-person and virtually.
Join concertmaster Naha Greenholtz and pianist Marian Lee for an evening of Musical Fantasies! Experience the music live in-person or from the comfort of your own home via Livestream. With a multiple high-definition camera setup, Livestream viewers will get an up-close view of these two masterful musicians at work, unlike anything they could experience at a traditional concert.
This is a rescheduling of WVIK/QCSO Signature Series IV: Devil’s Dance. Tickets to the original concert are valid for this event. The QCSO staff will follow up with current ticket holders to confirm their intent to attend the live performance or exchange their tickets for access to the Livestream. Additional tickets for in-person attendance are first come first serve.

Quad Cities Monster Truck Summer Nationals
The Monsters are coming!
America’s biggest and baddest monster truck show is coming for the first time ever to the Quad Cities this Saturday Aug 8 from 2 – 4 p.m. at the Rock Island County Fairgrounds (4200 Archer Drive East Moline)!
This event features National TV Monster Trucks, including two-time world champion BOUNTY HUNTER, plus SCARLETT BANDIT, IRON OUTLAW, JEKYLL & HYDE, and KAMIKAZE!

Backyard Boogie at Rozz-Tox
Join the Northern Parallels 043 for another open-air event, Backyard Boogie Edition, this Saturday Aug 8 from 7 p.m. – 12 a.m. at Rozz-Tox (2108 3rd Avenue Rock Island).
This free, all ages event (21+ to drink), will feature DJ Sets from Mike Derer and HIGGY outside of Rozz-Tox. Outdoor seating includes the LaborSpace park next door, the side patio and the backyard. Drinks will be available for purchase at the walk-up window on the side of the building.
Masks are encouraged throughout the night and will be required to go inside to use the restrooms. No mask, no entry.

Art Scavenger Hunt
Celebrate the Figge’s 15th Anniversary with an Art Scavenger Hunt around the Quad Cities!
Figge Art Museum (225 W 2nd Street Davenport) will be hosting an Art Scavenger Hunt this Saturday Aug 8 from 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. all around the Quad Cities.
This is a great way to explore the Quad Cities and support local businesses while enjoying special offers from all the businesses the day of the scavenger hunt. This event is free, but registration is required at https://sales.figgeartmuseum.org/ShoppingHome.aspx.
A list of participating business will be provided after registration. Each business will give participants clues to find a hidden work of art! Once all have been gathered, submit the completed scavenger hunt card to submissions@figgeartmuseum.org to be entered to win a gift card (a minimum $50 value) from one of the participating businesses.

Cruise the Canal – Guided Hennepin Canal Tours
The Geneseo Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the 2020 Cruise the Canal Tours – guided golf cart tours of the historic Hennepin Canal State Parkway. Historic tours of the Hennepin Canal will be offered as the popularity of the parkway has never been higher! The 2019 event sold out so be sure to get your RVSP in today!
Enjoy tours of the canal that focus on the history, construction and ecosystem of the canal – hosted by tour guide Bob Thompson of the Geneseo Campground. Cost is $20 per person and includes a golf cart driven by you, a guided tour, and the natural beauty of the Canal. Two people per cart. NO PETS!
Tours depart at 9 a.m. 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. from Lock 24 (north of Geneseo on N. Chicago St./Grange Road). Ample parking is available on-site. Carts will be sanitized between tours. Social distancing and public health guidelines are strongly encouraged. It is also asked that face masks be used when social distancing is difficult to achieve.
The tour will travel west to Lock 26 and last approximately 90 minutes.

3rd Annual Best of the Wurst Sausage Competition
Join the German American Heritage Center & Museum throughout the month of August for their 3rd annual Best of the Wurst Sausage Competition.
Out of an abundance of caution, this year’s Best of the Wurst will be a special, socially distanced event, rather than the usual in-person event.
Support the Best of the Wurst vendors throughout the month of August, vote for your favorite vendor, and enter to win special prizes. Join us on Saturday Aug 29 at 2pm on Facebook Live when GAHC announces the winner of the third annual Best of the Wurst Competition.
How it Works:
1.) Visit participating vendors and make a purchase any time before Aug 29
2.) When you make your purchase, you will receive a ticket representing that vendor
3.) Cast your vote by giving GAHC the ticket of your favorite vendor (mail it, drop it in their mailbox, bring it by in person, etc.)

Outdoor Guided Historic House Tours
Don’t have time for an indoor Historic Tour of Deere-Wiman House and Butterworth Center? Then join the Outdoor Guided Historic Tours!
Outdoor Guided Tours take a fresh look at the architecture of both remarkable homes while pointing out some remaining historic landscape features. Learn why Charles Deere chose a hilltop location to construct his home Overlook. Hear the story behind building Hillcrest, the home of William and Katherine Butterworth.
Tours take place every Sunday throughout the month of August, from 3 – 4 p.m., beginning at the Deere-Wiman House (817 11th Avenue Moline). Each tour is limited to 9 people. Bring a face mask and wear walking shoes.
