Rock Island Schools Name Parents Of The Month For June
Parent/Guardian of the Month
Schools can nominate a parent/guardian who goes above and beyond to support the needs of children, our school, and our community. The winner receives a gift card, a bunt cake, and a sign that can display outside their residence.
Patrice Thompson – Nominated by Nacole Idowu from Edison Junior High School
Mrs. Thompson is kind, amazing, caring, and an alliance in support between the school and her child. We really enjoy working with her, learning from her, and educating her child. Mrs. Thompson has been through so much and never misses a beat of being available for her student and her family. Mrs. Thompson is golden!
Meghan Cooley – Nominated by Cass Mikiao from Edison Junior High School and Shaya Smith from RICMS – Cass Mikiao and Shaya Smith
Mrs. Cooley gives rides to our students who go up to the high school for Math. She’s reached out and offered to help organize/chaperone the Art field trip to the Figge. She’s extremely involved in Earl Hanson’s program. This affects future Eagles too since they feed into Edison. Furthermore, she has been a great mom to her student, Charles, and he has been a great impact and leader at Edison. He is well respected both academically and athletically and is a great student to have in class! RICMS has been working hard to get our gardens in order. Mrs. Cooley took our Leader In Me signs and cleaned them for us. They look so good as our students play outside and are a good reminder of the habits while they do so. Megan wasn’t asked to do this. She saw a need and did it herself. Thank you for always going above and beyond to make our school the best it can be and doing things from your heart with our families in mind.
Tashia Bennet – Nominated by Kimberly Chenoweth from Ridgewood
My class has enjoyed the daily snacks Tashia has donated many times this year. I’ve really enjoyed seeing the effort she puts into helping Lillyonia with extra practice at home. I regularly receive communication from Tashia to update me on Lillyonia or wishing the class a great week. It’s been lovely having her support in the classroom this year!
