Illinois Congressman Sorensen Hosts Bipartisan Telephone Town Hall to Discuss Tax Dollars
Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) hosted a bipartisan telephone town hall discussion Wednesday evening with residents of Central and Northwestern Illinois. Sorensen invited Mayor of Peoria Rita Ali, Mayor of Freeport Jodi Miller, and Mayor of Coal Valley Mike Bartels to discuss investments Sorensen secured from Congress to deliver clean drinking water to families, fix local infrastructure, and expand affordable housing.
“Bringing taxpayer funds back from Washington is one of the most important things that I can do as your member of Congress. It is something that we can do to ease the burden on property taxes,” Sorensen said during the town hall event. “Over the past year-and-a-half, I’ve been trying to work across the aisle in every place I can to secure that funding back home. To me, it doesn’t matter if anybody has an ‘R’ or a ‘D’ behind their name. I want to be one of the most bipartisan members of Congress. And, in my role, I will never be anything else than that.”
