Western Illinois University Local Student Spotlight: Lauren Hall

You don’t have to leave to go far! Through the experiences of our local Western Illinois University students, we want to highlight the many opportunities that await you in this special series. Close to home, WIU can show you the world as you pursue your academic journey and future career.

Meet Lauren Hall, a senior Accounting major who could almost see WIU from her home.

“With WIU being in my backyard my whole life, it always seemed like a great option,” Hall said.
Why WIU?

When asked why she chose WIU, Hall said that she found out how wonderful the Accounting department was at WIU and knew that this was where she wanted to further her education.

The WIU Experience
Hall’s experience at WIU has been great, and she has been provided with opportunities from many organizations on campus. She attributes the faculty for being helpful in her academics and their desire to want students to succeed. She feels she has been able to thrive at WIU because of this.

Future Career Aspirations
Western has prepared Hall for her future through the many career fair opportunities. She has been able to complete four internships at public accounting firms because of WIU, which in return, have given her invaluable experience. She commends the many faculty members who have helped prepare her by providing instructional materials.

Student Advice
She feels prospective students should attend Discover Western to learn more about what WIU has to offer, and encourages her peers to not be afraid to talk to faculty or current students about what college at WIU is like.
“Apply for scholarships and explore campus opportunities. WIU has a lot to offer and you just have to get involved,” Hall said.
