Western Illinois University Announces Fall 2022 Community Art Program
The Western Illinois University Art Education department will offer a free Community Art Program for students in first through fourth grades over three Sundays in October and November.
The classes will be held from 1-2:30 p.m. Oct. 30, and Nov. 6 and 13 in Garwood Hall. Classes for first and second graders will be held in room 24 and classes for third and fourth graders will be held in room 25.
In the classes for first and second graders, artists will work with proportions, perspective and three-dimensional art. Projects will include a bubble blowing self-portrait, a clay aquarium design and a hot air balloon drawing and sculpture.
In the classes for third and fourth graders, artists will make three paintings while focusing on how lines create shapes within their paintings. They will explore yarn, salt and dot painting techniques.
Due to space limitations, a maximum of 15 students will be accepted for each class.
