Western Illinois to Host Raising Illinois Legislative Forum June 20

MACOMB/Moline, IL – Western Illinois University Center for Best Practices in Early Childhood Education, along with Skip Along Family and Community Services Raising Illinois, will host an early childhood focused Legislative Forum at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 20 on the Quad Cities campus.

Join WIU Ambassadors and Raising Illinois in a discussion where participants will be given information about upcoming legislation while uplifting community testimonies and hear more about Raising Illinois initiatives, as well as discuss the local early childhood workforce programs currently working to address shortages and pay equity, as well as engage in discussion with the WIU Parent Mentor Program about engaging diverse parents as advocates.

“We will be taking the opportunity to understand the needs of attendees in the areas of early care and education, as well as economic stability for young families,” WIU Director of Center For Best Practices and Education Professor Lindsay Meeker said.

Raising Illinois is a collective effort, powered by Start Early, to create an equitable and cohesive support system for expecting families, infants, toddlers and community members in which they live.
