Western Illinois University Interim Assistant Vice President for Facilities Management John Smith has been named acting administrator in charge for the division of Finance and Administration, effective immediately, according to Interim President Kristi Mindrup. Smith replaces the Vice President for Finance and Administration and will provide leadership for the division until a longer-term appointment is identified.

Smith will provide leadership and continuity of operation for the entire division while continuing to serve as the interim assistant vice president for Facilities Management. Smith was previously interim vice president for Student Success from 2022-2024 and 2019-2021. He has also served as director of Beu Health Center from July 2015-2024, and held other roles since 2005.

Smith received his bachelor’s degree in Psychology and his master’s degree in Gerontology from Western.
