Western Illinois’ Department of Communication’s Macchi named Nationally Certified Online Profile Expert
Stacey Macchi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication at Western Illinois University, recently gained status as a Nationally Certified Online Profile Expert (NCOPE) through the National Resume Writers’ Association (NRWA).
To earn this certification, Macchi attended a five-week live training program; completed course preparation and weekly homework assignments with passing scores; and passed a final exam. Additionally, Macchi had to show understanding of best practices to “find, build and nurture networks online, and of how to leverage LinkedIn’s network power and setting as part of job search.”
The NCOPE certification is rigorous but provides an opportunity to show “expertise in crafting branded, engaging, conversational, value-based LinkedIn profiles. This certification also displays understanding of the role of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and the role LinkedIn plays in today’s job hunt, career marketing and social recruiting.” This certification also allowed Macchi to gain practice at LinkedIn recruiter proficiency, which will help all of WIU’s students as LinkedIn in used by a majority of recruiters in today’s job market.
Currently there are only 154 professionals in the United States with this certification.
This certification process was made possible by the Department of Communication through the Grice Endowment.
