Illinois Congressman Sorensen Tours River Bend Food Bank in Quad Cities
Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) joined River Bend Food Bank officials for a tour of their facility followed by a listening session focused on addressing hunger and improving nutrition. River Bend Food Bank, located in Davenport, serves more than 400 hunger-relief partners in 23 counties in eastern Iowa and western Illinois.
“No one in the Quad Cities should go hungry,” said Sorensen. “As a member of the House Agriculture Committee, I am committed to making sure that the next Farm Bill supports food banks like River Bend so we can make sure families and children do not go hungry. I want to thank River Bend for the tour and the work they do to keep our neighbors fed.”

In Congress, Sorensen has cosponsored numerous bills that will address food insecurity concerns in Central and Northwestern Illinois including the bipartisan Delivering for Rural Seniors Act, which will allow seniors living in rural areas, seniors with disabilities, and those with mobility or transportation issues to receive home delivery services from food banks participating in the Commodity Supplemental Food Program.
Sorensen also cosponsored the bipartisan Helping Schools Feed Kids Act, which will help schools continue to provide meals to students and mitigate the impacts of inflation.
