Ashley Wilkinson Named Western Illinois University Advisor Of The Month
The Western Illinois University Awards & Recognition Committee proudly announces Ashley Wilkinson, academic advisor for the College of Business and Technology, as WIU Advisor of the Month for November 2024.
Wilkinson has been recognized for her exceptional dedication to her students, who consistently highlight her encouragement, knowledge and genuine care for their success. This recognition follows several glowing student nominations, including a nontraditional Information Systems major who described Wilkinson as “an absolute beacon of encouragement and support.”
The student, who returned to school after nearly 30 years, shared how daunting the journey initially felt but credited Wilkinson for helping him stay focused and motivated.
“Her unwavering belief in my potential and her consistent encouragement have been instrumental in keeping me motivated and focused on my goals,” the student said. “She meticulously maps out my classes several semesters in advance, ensuring that every course aligns with my long-term goals. This forward-thinking approach has been incredibly reassuring, constantly reminding me of how close I am to achieving my degree.”
Another student, an Accounting major, praised Wilkinson’s friendly and passionate approach to advising, noting her ability to provide structure, mentorship and empathy.
“She’s a great mentor, delivers sincere compassion and encourages students to seek valuable resources and internships,” the student said.
Wilkinson’s recognition as Advisor of the Month showcases her profound impact on the WIU academic community and her commitment to empowering students in their educational and personal growth.
