Robots Are On Parade Friday at Davenport’s Genesis Medical Center
Genesis Health System is hosting a program on Intuitive robotic technology at Genesis Medical Center, Davenport, 1227 East Rusholme Street, main floor lobby on Friday, December 1 at 11:30 a.m.
In addition to demonstrations of our Intuitive ION and da Vinci Xi
robots, surgeon Robert Harson, MD and patient Lois Nichols will be on hand to talk
to the media.
Lois Nichols, 91, of Bettendorf, suffered from pain and discomfort for nearly six
years until Genesis doctors came to her rescue.
The retired music teacher and Figge Art Museum docent said she lost as much as
25 pounds while waiting for a correct diagnosis.
A colonoscopy revealed that she had colon cancer and needed surgery.
Genesis surgeon Robert Harson, MD, FACS, utilized robotic technology to remove
the cancer.
“I consider myself very lucky to have found these people here, and I didn’t need to
travel elsewhere for care,” says Nichols.
The robotic-assisted surgery took place on October 9, 2023.
“It didn’t take me hardly any time to recover from the surgery because you don’t
have a big incision,” added Nichols.
At Genesis, our advanced robotic technology offers patients like Nichols a faster
recovery to return to their lives sooner.
Our experienced surgeons have performed 6,700 minimally invasive procedures in
urology, general surgery, gynecology, and lung biopsy.
