Quad City Strikers U15 Boys Soccer Team Competing In Ohio Midwest Regionals
With a three-peat in the Presidents’ Cup, facing off against the top-ranked teams in the state of Iowa, the Quad City Strikers 2008 boys soccer team has had their share of success over the past three years.
The group has been ranked number one in their age bracket in Iowa throughout that time.
They’ve won dozens of tournaments around the Midwest, from Nebraska to Minnesota to South Dakota.
They went to the finals in the international USA Cup, losing in a thrilling triple-overtime penalty kick shootout to Puerto Rico.
And now, the warriors are headed to the Midwest Regionals for the third year in a row, after winning the Iowa Presidents’ Cup competition again in 2023 after victories in 2022 and 2021.
The team is competing starting Friday and through the weekend into next week in West Chester, Ohio, just outside Cincinnati, against 12 top-ranked teams from throughout the Midwest. The final two will play against each other in the championship of the Midwest bracket, and both of those finalists will represent the Midwest in the National Presidents’ Cup competition against teams from across the United States, later this July.
The Quad City Strikers face off against a tough bracket featuring Cincinnati United (top-ranked team in Ohio), Scott Gallagher Academy St. Louis (top-ranked team in Missouri) and Mankato United (top-ranked team in Minnesota). It’s the second time around for the Strikers against the first two teams, as they tied Cincinnati and lost to Scott Gallagher in previous Presidents’ Cups.
Here’s hoping the third time is the charm for the hard-working Quad-Cities-based team!
The Strikers are coached by Juan Nuci, and the roster includes Aiden Nuci, Ben Leinart, Caleb Hythecker, Charlie Blackwell, Cole Brimmer, Colton Schuette, Connor Wehr, Easton Bohnstengel, Fred Callender, Jackson Leary, Javier Alvarado, Joseph Ly, Lance Brock, Luke Jennings, Nathan Winger, Payton Douglas, Seth Utsinger, and Wyatt Marshall.
