Western Illinois University Releases Spring 2022 Commencement Covid Protocols

MACOMB/Moline, IL – As the spring semester gets closer to drawing to an end, that means Spring 2022 Commencement Ceremonies are right around the corner. WIU will host in-person, indoor commencement ceremonies May 13-15. The ceremonies will also be livestreamed on the University’s YouTube Channel.

Guest Registration

Guest registration is required to attend the ceremonies, which will be held Friday-Saturday, May 13-14 in Western Hall and Sunday, May 15 at the TaxSlayer Center in Moline (IL). Each graduating student may invite a total of four guests. The registration information will be emailed to graduating students.

COVID Self-Check/Symptoms

Guests and graduating students should complete the WIU COVID Self-Check at wiu.edu/selfcheck/ prior to attending a ceremony. In addition, individuals experiencing any symptoms related to COVID should not attend. While vaccinations are not a requirement to attend, individuals attending/participating are strongly encouraged to be vaccinated.

Face Coverings

At this time, face coverings are required for entry. Individuals without a face covering will not be admitted.

Health & Safety Protocols

Health and safety measures will be in place at all ceremonies. COVID-19-related information and protocols can be found at wiu.edu/coronavirus, at “Return to Campus.”

NOTE: WIU protocols, including testing, face coverings, capacities and other measures, could change depending on circumstances and health guidance. 

Ceremonies

Friday, May 13, Western Hall
5 p.m., Graduate Commencement.

Saturday, May 14, Western Hall
9 a.m., Undergraduate Commencement, College of Business and Technology and College of Fine Arts and Communication;
1 p.m., Undergraduate Commencement, College of Education and Human Services;
4:30 p.m., Undergraduate Commencement, College of Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Interdisciplinary Studies Degree Programs.

Sunday, May 15, TaxSlayer Center: 1 p.m., Combined Graduate & Undergraduate Commencement.

Livestreaming of Ceremonies

All Commencement ceremonies will be live-streamed on WIU’s YouTube channel.

Cap and Gown Sales Caps and gowns are available for purchase through the University Bookstore.  Hood Sales  Graduate and doctoral students will receive an email from the School of Graduate Studies with instructions on pre-purchasing a graduate or doctoral hood. Graduate students may wear the hood during the ceremony. Doctoral and MFA graduates will be hooded on stage and should carry it with them during the ceremony.
