Western Illinois University Law Enforcement and Justice Administration Named Best Online Degree in Illinois
Western Illinois University’s School of Law Enforcement and Justice Administration has been named the best online criminal justice degree in Illinois for 2021.
WIU was ranked number one out of the 10 schools on the list compiled by Criminal Justice Degree Hub, who used data from IPEDS (Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System) and Niche to rank programs according to tuition, reputation and graduate salary.
“I am pleased to receive this recognition as the number one online criminal justice program in Illinois,” said School of LEJA Director Jill Myers. “We continuously update and revise our curriculum to present all current state and national standards.
“We recently revised our program to include the Illinois 2021 Police ‘Reform Bill’ SAFE-T Act that went into effect in July, and we added two new fully online Post Baccalaureate Certificates to meet the specific goals and needs of our students and professionals, and specifically to enhance social justice, equity, inclusion and community relations between law enforcement and citizens, we have added a Community Engagement and Public Safety Leadership certificate program. Additionally, due to the increased numbers of disasters and crises occurring throughout the region and world, we have added an Emergency Management certificate program. These online courses are interactive, engaging and content rich to meet the needs of current and future criminal justice professionals.”
