Western Illinois University Holding COVID-19 Fall 2021 Test Clinics And Vaccine/Testing Incentives

MACOMB/Moline, IL – Western Illinois University faculty, staff, and students will be required to participate in the University’s weekly COVID-19 testing program. Individuals may opt out of testing if proof of vaccination is provided. Testing will be required each week for those individuals who have not received a COVID-19 vaccination.

WIU-Macomb COVID-19 Fall 2021 test clinics began Monday, Aug. 23. Fall 2021 test clinics on the Macomb campus will be held from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday thru Thursday in the WIU Student Recreation Center MAC Gym (south gym). Test clinics will be held in Riverfront Hall on the WIU-Quad Cities campus from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday.

Western Illinois University Holding COVID-19 Fall 2021 Test Clinics And Vaccine/Testing IncentivesIndividuals on the Macomb campus who must comply with the weekly test requirement MUST register in advance at the following site: https://www.wiu.edu/covidtest/. Quad Cities faculty, staff, and students do not need to register in advance for the CRL brand tests used at the QC campus.

WIU-Macomb faculty, staff and students will use the SHIELD Illinois fast-turnaround saliva-based COVID-19 tests. The SHIELD test requires individuals to deposit a small amount of saliva in a vial, which usually takes less than five minutes. The CRL saliva test kits will continue to be used on the WIU-QC campus.

For individuals who are vaccinated, a copy of the vaccine card may be submitted to WIU’s internal secure site at wiu.edu/vaccinationportal/ (select “student” or “employee” category). If individuals do not wish to upload the information, the vaccination card can be presented at the following locations: WIU-Macomb students: Beu Health Center; WIU-Macomb Employees: Sherman Hall 321 (Vice President for Student Success Office); WIU-Quad Cities Students & Employees: Riverfront Hall. Students, faculty, and staff who will not be on campus during the 2021-2022 academic year are exempt from these requirements.

Western Illinois University Holding COVID-19 Fall 2021 Test Clinics And Vaccine/Testing IncentivesIndividuals who do not upload/present a vaccination card and who do not participate in the required weekly testing will be subject to disciplinary action consistent with WIU’s Human Resources and Student Conduct procedures.

Vaccine & Testing Incentives

Vaccine clinics will be held on the Macomb campus for WIU students and employees only on the following dates:

Tuesday, Sept. 14, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., University Union Sandburg Lounge. Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer.

Tuesday, Sept. 21 and Tuesday, Oct. 5, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., University Union Sandburg Lounge. Johnson & Johnson and second dose Pfizer.

Members of the WIU community who are taking classes or working on campus, who are fully vaccinated and who upload their COVID-19 vaccination information prior to the first day of class will be entered to win $150 in Rocky Dollars added to their WIU ID Card (awarded to 300 students and to 100 employees). Winners will be notified the week of Aug. 23.

Vaccination incentive drawings will also be held the week of Oct. 11 for $150 in Rocky Dollars (awarded to 100 students and 50 employees) and the week of Dec. 20 for $25 in Rocky Dollars (awarded to 25 students and 25 employees).

A testing program incentive drawing will be held the week of Dec. 20 for $100 in Rocky Dollars (awarded to 100 students and 75 employees).
