MACOMB/Moline, IL – For the 31st consecutive year, the Western Illinois University Zeta Beta Chapter (No. 141) of Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) has achieved Superior Chapter status from Beta Alpha Psi International.
The WIU student organization, led by Senior Instructor Cheryl Westen, was recognized by the BAP Board of Directors for their outstanding efforts during the 2019-2020 academic year.
“Recognition as a Superior Chapter is a significant accomplishment. Under the leadership of Cheryl Westen, the Zeta Beta chapter has far exceeded the baseline requirements of Beta Alpha Psi and has excelled in the areas of academics, professionalism and leadership,” noted Rita Grant, Beta Alpha Psi president. “I offer my heartfelt congratulations to the Zeta Beta Chapter for their accomplishments.”
The international recognition earned the chapter a $500 award, which is sponsored by KPMG and the KPMG Foundation.
“Our students do extraordinary work, including hosting a career fair, an accounting challenge with area high school students and numerous other professional events,” said Jessica Harriger-Lin, interim director for the School of Accounting, Finance, Economics & Decision Sciences. “Achieving Superior Chapter status for 31 years demonstrates the outstanding work our students continue to do in spite of all the challenges they’ve faced in the last year. Ms. Westen and our students are to be commended for their hard work and tireless efforts making the WIU chapter of Beta Alpha Psi a truly great student organization.”
