Tripmaster Monkey Playing At Iowa’s Common Chord This Weekend
Tripmaster Monkey are reuniting for a show at 8 p.m. Saturday at Davenport’s Common Chord, in the Redstone building.
This show was moved from the Village Theatre. If you had already purchased tickets for the show at the Village Theatre, your tickets will still be honored. Give your name at the door and our door staff will look up your ticket order.
July 13th marks the first reunion show since 2019, when the band united cross-country to write, record and release a full length album followed by regional appearances just before the global pandemic.
All original members of Tripmaster Monkey hail from the Quad Cities, where the band was formed in 1987 while the founders were still in high school.
Tripmaster Monkey was signed to Sire/Warner Bros. Records in the early 90’s. They released an EP that received critical praise internationally followed by two full length albums that charted on college radio and received airplay worldwide.
The alt rock unit enjoyed success on multiple tours across the country and overseas. They had a video that was played on MTV (when MTV played music videos).
The music possessed an energy that was seldom rivaled, with thoughtful lyrics and a live show that was unparalleled.
Due to record label acquisitions and complications Tripmaster Monkey got off the road in 1997 and have since appeared for special occasion reformations in the years that have passed.
