This NBA Team SHOULD NOT Win The Draft Lottery
The NBA season just came to an end today, and so, most teams are looking forward to the draft lottery.
Washington, Utah, San Antonio, Philadelphia and others are all eyeing the chance to get Duke’s Cooper Flagg, the presumed number one draft pick, and hoping the lottery balls go their way.
Honestly, I hope the NBA really is fixed, and I hope that they punish the 76ers by putting them as low as possible in the draft lottery. Philadelphia has been a travesty over the past decade-plus, a pathetic organization tanking constantly and blowing the incredible surplus of talent they’ve been gifted by the draft. Listen, I get it, the Lakers and the Celtics obviously get “lucky” and somehow always end up with stars, but it’s also rare that they really suck even under the worst of circumstances and there’s never a time, no matter how bad those teams are, that you get the feeling they’re tanking. So, screw Philadelphia!

Now, that said, who do I hope WINS the draft?
Well, the Bulls, of course, but I realize that’s probably slim.
So, if the Bulls don’t, I hope it’s either San Antonio or Utah. Both are solid franchises that would be good spots for Cooper Flagg and would showcase him with rising teams that would be well coached and ultimately competitive in short order.
Washington and Charlotte are always a mess, so hopefully he doesn’t go to either of them.
Now all that said, who do I hope the Bulls get in the draft if they don’t pick number 1? Either Queen from Maryland (first choice) or Maluach from Duke. The Bulls DO NOT need any more guards. They need a talented big, and both of those players would fit in really well with what they’re putting together. I love Matas and think he’s going to be a star, Giddey has really started to blossom, and Coby is emerging as one of the best shooting guards in the league. They’ve also got nice backups in Ayo, Huerter and Lonzo. P-Will is who he is, he’s a capable backup, albeit overpaid. I’m not holding out hope for him being anything but a good bench player, and there’s a value in that, although it’s not what his contract is. Vooch is solid, but is on the way out, obviously. So, if they can get some help up front, especially a young and active big, they’ll be in good shape.
