This is a re-telling of the classic holiday movie favorite, “It’s a Wonderful Life”. Much of the dialogue is very familiar, with all the key iconic moments from the movie. George Bailey struggles between his yearning for travel and adventure, and his responsibility to the family and town he loves. When he hits the low point of his life, and is considering tossing it all away, help comes in the form of Guardian Angel Second Class, Clarence Oddbody, who has to find a way to help George save himself, and in the process, earn his wings.

QCMG is looking to cast a good sized Citizenry for Bedford Falls. Principals are George Bailey, and Mary Hatch, Clarence Oddbody, Joseph the Angel first class, the evil Henry Potter, the doddering and forgetful Uncle Billy. Violet Bick has a solo in a song, some lines, and of course wears “some dress you have there.”

Other featured moments with lines are scattered throughout the chorus. Citizens of Bedford and Pottersville will fill multiple roles, Bert the cop, Ernie the cabbie, Sam Wainwright who is George’s entrepreneur friend, Harry the war hero brother, Marty Hatch, and Mr(s)?? Carter the Bank Examiner, Cousin Tilley, Cousin Eustace. The chorus participates in at least 7 musical numbers. Potter has a featured song along with some of his “goons”. Clarence has a featured song, as well.

Music Guild is looking to cast 2 boys and 2 girls to be the Bailey Children Tommy, Pete, Janie, and of course Zuzu with her petals (as well as serving as random citizens). One of the 2 boys will also briefly be “young George”. Zuzu is the youngest and needs to be in at least first grade because of the degree of independence needed to be backstage.

Auditioners should prepare to sing up to 32 measures of a song suiting your range and talent. But also consider that the pianist will be sight reading.

Wear comfortable shoes and clothes, as the choreographer will have some dance for you to learn and audition with. Music Guild is not looking for perfection, but looking for your ability to move, and convey that energy needed on stage.

QCMG may ask some but not all auditioners to read from the script, mainly those who are interested in the primary roles. Otherwise make your ability to convey a character come through in your audition song. If you are not asked to read, that does not mean you are not being considered.
