Music Guild Auditioning For ‘Little Shop of Horrors’

Music Guild Auditioning For ‘Little Shop of Horrors’The Quad-City Music Guild will hold auditions for it’s Spring show ‘Little Shop of Horrors” Saturday and  Sunday January 21st and 22nd from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.

Performance dates are March 30th and 31st, April 1st and 2nd. Auditions will be at the Prospect Park Theater 1584 34th Ave, Moline, IL.

A deviously delicious Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi smash musical, Little Shop Of Horrors has devoured the hearts of theatre goers for over 30 years. Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Beauty And The Beast, and Aladdin) are the creative geniuses behind what has become one of the most popular shows in the world.

The meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn stumbles across a new breed of plant he names “Audrey II” – after his coworker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down and out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it, BLOOD. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II’s out of this world origins and intent towards global domination!

You may be asked to sing, dance, and read aloud from a script or from other provided materials.

Bring 16 bars of sheet music that you will sing from (can be any 16 bars of the song).  You will likely be cut off after 16 bars as there are many auditioners to be heard during auditions.  (Recorded music is not allowed for auditions)

Try to sing a song that is complementary of the music in the show you are auditioning for and that complements your voice.

Try to use music that is not too complicated as this may be the first time the accompanist has ever seen the music.

Use a song you are comfortable with.  If you break going for that high note, it is not impressive.

Dress comfortably  – in case you are asked to learn and perform a short dance routine.
