Join the Prairie Players Patio of Fame

There’s something a little bit special about seeing the name of someone you know and love in print: a birth announcement, an honor roll, a play bill. Unfortunately, these recognitions are often fleeting, thrown away with the day’s newspaper or discarded when the curtain closes. What if you could honor someone or highlight a memory permanently, in public, for generations to remember and appreciate?

“Prairie Players’ history with Galesburg started over 100 years ago and since 1959, has presented over 300 productions for the Galesburg and surrounding communities,” board member Judy Diemer said. “Hundreds of individuals have contributed their time and talents on stage and thousands more have supported PPCT as audience members, donors, and volunteers.” Diemer continued by saying, “Showing support by remembering those from the past, memories from favorite shows, and friendships created will live on well into the future as we complete our new home for generations of theatre-goers to come.”

To recognize the many, many individuals who have been a part of Prairie Players Civic Theatre the last 100+ years and the many shows produced, we are laying a Patio of Fame in front of our building at 160 South Seminary St. Engraved pavers are $160 for a standard 4” x 8” size with up to three lines of copy. Larger 8” x 8” pavers are $300 with up to 4 lines of copy.

“These funds will be used to complete renovations to our building, including an outdoor event space in the back of our building and exterior landscaping,” Program Administrator Tristan Tapscott said. “We want to be a quality community resource, not just for the performing arts, but for public and private rentals, special events and attractions.” Tapscott added, “These final renovations will be critical to our plans to expand and diversify our programming.”

Pavers can be purchased at any time, but to be included in a special unveiling ceremony on September 14, the theater must receive your order by July 15. Patrons can visit www.prairieplayers.com for more information!
