Countryside Community Theatre revived with Godspell March 16

Countryside Community Theatre revived with Godspell March 16After a year hiatus, Countryside Community Theatre is ready to rock the Quad Cities with a legendary musical from a legendary composer.

Opening a new era of Countryside Community Theatre is the Stephen Schwartz (WickedPippin) Tony Award©-nominated classic, Godspell. Told through an exciting array of music and dance, the parables of Jesus Christ come to life in this modern take on a timeless tale of friendship, loyalty, and love.

The cast features newcomer Drake Mason as Jesus and Quad City staples Nate Karstens (John the Baptist/Judas), Sara Diericx and Cindy Ramos. Jessica Tapscott, Gage McCalester, John McAtee, Casey Nabb, Rachel Bousselot and Martha Behnke round out the diverse cast of musical pranksters.

Set in a modern day coffee shop, this immersive production marks the return of director Tristan Tapscott. Tapscott has directed over a dozen Quad City productions including Legally Blonde and A Christmas Carol and was involved with Broadway Revival of Godspell in 2011. The iconic music is being directed by Jo Anne Hillman, who previously worked on Quad City productions of High Fidelity and Christmas Carol.

Godspell will be the first Countryside production held in the historic Boll’s Community Center located at 428 River Drive in Princeton, Iowa. Countryside will utilize this venue for the productions in the spring and fall/winter while continuing to use North Scott High School in Eldridge, Iowa for their summer productions.

Godspell will play the Boll’s Community Center March 16, 17, 23 and 24 at 7:30pm and March 18 and 25 at 2:30pm. Patrons who wish to visit Go Fish, the bar and grille across the street from the theatre, will get $3 off admission with their receipt. All general admission tickets are $15 and can be reserved by visiting www.cctonstage.org.
