Still Looking For A Turkey In The Quad-Cities? They Might All Be Gobbled Up
Thanksgiving turkeys and supplies have been gobbled up quickly off Quad-Cities grocery store shelves, so if you’re still on the hunt for a bird, you might have tough time.
A trek to three area HyVee and two Aldi stores and a Target on the Illinois and Iowa sides of the river found ALL six of them SOLD OUT of turkeys, as of this morning.
As for other supplies, the Aldis in Davenport and Rock Island were also sold out of cranberries, mashed potatoes and some stuffings, although still had gravy and a good supply of vegetables.
The HyVees in Moline, Davenport and Milan were likewise out of cranberries, and were getting thin on stuffing, gravy and other side dishes, but still had good supplies of fresh and canned vegetables.
Rock Island HyVee was also bereft of turkey, although they had some cranberries, stuffing, gravy and other sides.
The Target in Moline was pretty well picked clean of most items, although the canned vegetables were hanging tough.
On the plus side, every location was well-stocked with a delicious array of frozen pizzas, and many of them were on sale, so if you want to go the non-traditional route, you have options.
Me?
I’m going with Mexican food this Thanksgiving, and having chicken enchiladas, spanish rice, refried beans and guacamole and chips — all of which were in great supply at your friendly neighborhood HyVees.
