Mid American White U10 Team Splits To Start Season

The Mid American Premier Team White U10 squad began its season with a split in Illowa League play over the weekend, losing a hard-fought 9-5 match to North Scott on Saturday then rebounding to a big 13-1 win over Sterling on Sunday.

The President of the Club, and coach of Team White, Jeff Barnes, most definitely feels that the team is headed in the right direction.

“The team has several new players who have never played at this high competitive level as well as returning veteran players on that team who have been a part of the club since the beginning, and they’re just starting to gel as a team,” Barnes said. “We’re confident that as the season progresses they’re going to just keep getting stronger.

“I tell all of my players that hard work and never giving up is just as good as scoring,” Barnes said. “Even though you may walk away at times with a loss, you are always a winner if you have given it everything you’ve got until the very end. I’m excited to watch our newest players to the club gain the experience and grow into great soccer players that will follow them for years to come.”

The previous weekend, the Mid American Premier Team Red U10 had begun its season with four wins, going 4-0 in winning the Elmhurst Cup in Elmhurst, Ill. Team Red is composed almost entirely of veteran players for Mid American Premier, with only one newcomer.

Mid American, the top-ranked soccer team in the region, next suits up for competition over Labor Day weekend as Team Red competes in the Muscatine Soccer Tournament.
