Get Hoopin’ For The House!

Get Hoopin’ For The House! The Quad Cities’ Ultimate Pickup Game is once again upon us! That’s right, it’s time for the 10th Annual Hoopin’ for the House!

Hoopin’ for the House is a fundraiser brought to you by Friendly House of Davenport. It is a twelve-hour marathon basketball game for adults. This year’s event will start at 7pm Friday April 7 and go through 7am on Saturday April 8.

Each game will last forty minutes, with a five-minute warmup beforehand. This is not set up as a tournament, but score will be kept for general interest purposes. Between games, there will be plenty to keep players occupied. Live basketball, card games, gaming systems and conversation will make those twelve hours fly by. Food and drink will also be provided by Old Chicago, Buffalo Wild Wings, Dr. Pepper and more.

Players collect pledges (minimum of $100) to gain entry to this one of kind adult lock-in. The minimum $100 will include a t-shirt, food, drinks, and games. All proceeds go towards programs and services at Friendly House. If you are unable to play but would like to donate any food or prizes for raffles, you can do so by dropping them off at Friendly House of Davenport at 1221 N Myrtle Street Davenport. If you would be interested in sponsoring a player or donating monetarily, please contact Friendly House at (563) 323-1821.

Terry Hendershott, the Assistant Director at Friendly House is the brains and brawn behind this event. As a basketball player himself, he came up with the idea for the basketball marathon. Like with most things, he did not know what would come out of the event. But ten years later, the Hoopin’ for the House fundraiser is still going strong and picking up even more momentum.

Friendly House offers programs targeting economically challenged individuals and families, providing programs and services for preschool aged children through senior citizens which support their family-based approach to service. While some of the programs have a fee structure that is based on family size and income, none of the programs determine eligibility for service based on income.

Whether you are ready to shoot some hoops or would like to donate to a great cause, this is not an event to be missed! Please check out the Facebook event page for more information: https://www.facebook.com/events/724810107704451/.
