Davenport Drops Game Two In Babe Ruth World Series
In one of the night cap games for day two of the thirteen year old Ottumwa Babe Ruth World Series, Pearl City(HI) took on Davenport(IA).
Pearl City jumped out early and cruised to a five inning 11-0 win over Davenport.
Things were all Pearl City’s way in the first.
Jayton Pang started with a double, Kelena Sauer then singled. But it was a wild pitch that brought in the first run.
Next up Michael Yamaguchi singled followed by Bryden “Maka” Malama with a sacrifice fly to score Sauer.
Jaron Yoshikane got in on the scoring next with a RBI single bringing in Yamaguchi, Pearl City went up 3-0.
Two batters later, Yoshikane scored to extend the lead to 4-0 thanks to Carlson Ogata reaching first base on an error.
DJ Akiyama brought in the fifth run of the game with a RBI groundout. Randen Kohagura sent one to left field for a RBI double to make it 6-0.
The scoring rally continued in the third inning. The Thunder loaded the bases and a walk brought in Jaron Yoshikane to make it 7-0.
Joshua Fournier then used a single to left to make it 9-0 bringing in Carlson Ogata and DJ Akiyama.
Jayton Pang followed that up with his second double of the game to make it 11-0 Pearl City.
Davenport got its first base runner of the game with a walk to Andrew Hutchroft in the bottom of the fourth.
Cade Amato got the Iowa State champs only hit of the game off a single in the bottom of the fifth.
Michael Yamaguchi earned the Ron Tellefsen player of the game for Pearl City with a three inning 5 strikeout performance. Cody Depardo of Davenport earned player of the game for his defensive efforts.
Pearl City(2-0) faces Spokane of Washington (1-0) Saturday at 5:30pm. Davenport (0-2) will look for its first win against
Meridian of Mississippi (0-1) at 5:30pm.
