Select Indoor Capacity Limits to be Lifted At Western Illinois University

Over the past several weeks, the Western Illinois University COVID-19 Response Committee has reviewed the numerous updates and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and other public health guidelines regarding the pandemic.

With the continuing decline in COVID-19 positive cases, capacity limits for select indoor events/activities on WIU’s campuses will be lifted, effective immediately, across numerous campus locations, including the University Union, Campus Recreation, dining centers and other non-academic facilities. Other protocols (face coverings, travel, and other measures) will continue to be reviewed in the coming weeks.

Capacity limits will continue to be maintained in classroom and instructional locations for the remainder of the semester. A return to normal capacities will be in effect for the Fall 2022 semester.

Any Macomb campus event or gathering MUST still submit a Campus Scheduling Form, and have a control plan on file. Any WIU-Quad Cities campus event or gathering MUST complete and submit the following form located here. With warmer weather approaching, it is highly encouraged that events/activities are planned to be held outdoors when possible.

COVID-19-related information and protocols can be found at wiu.edu/coronavirus, at “Return to Campus.”

NOTE: WIU protocols, including testing, face coverings, capacities and other measures, could change depending on circumstances and health guidance.
